The Bulldog football team notched a big 64-27 win over Deming Friday in its District 2-AAAAA opener at Bulldog Bowl.
Bryce Parra took the opening kickoff 91 yards to paydirt just 15 seconds into the contest, and the 'Dogs never looked back. Class 5A third-ranked Artesia took a 29-19 lead in at the break before outscoring No. 4 Deming 35-15 in the second half.
The Artesia boys will next host fifth-ranked Gadsden (4-0) at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Bowl in the 2024 Homecoming Game. The Panthers defeated Mayfield 28-20 Thursday.
In other district action Friday, top-ranked Lovington bested No. 2 Roswell High 35-21.
