Several Artesia students participating in FFA and 4-H had a big week at the New Mexico State Fair youth livestock shows.

Taking overall Reserve Champion Market Swine honors was Jules Cortese with his Reserve Champion Cross. Cortese also won first-place ribbons with his light Cross and medium Hamp.

Picking up the Grand Champion award in the New Mexico Bred Swine show was Gracen Kuykendall, who topped the field with her hog, Wee. Right behind her in the Reserve Champion spot was Owen Golden.

Klanclie Conklin, meanwhile, earned distinction as the Reserve Champion Junior Showman and made the sale with her second-place Market Goat.
